During my first and final years of studying at Harper Adams University College, I received a grant from the Bowyer Family Memorial Trust, and now I have graduated I write to bring you up to date with what I am doing.

I am working for the Border Union Agricultural Society in Kelso who are celebrating their 200th birthday this year. I am currently helping to organise a 'Children's Countryside Day' to educate children about agriculture, food and the countryside. This also aims to promote agriculture as a future career to children who may or may not be from a rural background. I was always set on a practical farming career, predominantly working with stock; however, after suffering problems with my joints, I decided to settle for working with animals as a hobby and at weekends, although I would still like to invest in a small herd of beef cattle of my own in the future.

I am currently raising funds to take my car trailer test as this will allow me to help out more when moving stock or attending shows. I have also recently take on a Club Leader role within my Young Farmers Club in order to help improve and expand the currently small group.

I would like to thank you again for awarding me a grant which helped greatly during my time of studying. I now have a much larger collection of reference books and also gained my Rough Terrain Telescopic Forklift certificate with the money.
